What does it say about me if my favorite portion of the WSJ is Life and Culture -- Fashion?
Love fashion. The trends, the how to tips (even though I don't do my hair so it doesn't really apply to me), what people wear to the office (bland, standard office attire is the bane of my existence. I try to change it up and I LOVE experimenting with colors!) and to see the buzzing creativity.
Retail news piques my interest. Not so much just the runaway and hot trends, but the business side. How they are run. How different businesses operate (a lot of creativity - you will be surprised!). What their business model is. Who their target market segment is. How they efficiently meet the needs of customers and shareholders. That's the juice for me. I hope to be involved in retail someday; who knows what the future may bring? Perhaps as a buyer for a retail store. Someday.
For now, I'm excited to start my career in 2014 as a forensic accountant. Thankful to have landed The Job I absolutely love. Besides high intrinsic job satisfaction, I also enjoy the travel, the steep learning curve, and the constant variety (I get bored easily). There's so much to look forward to.
2014: SAN FRANCISCO BABYYY! So lucky to get to do what I love. If you are wondering, I didn't get so lucky the first time. I too have done my time, through a lot of trial and error. Five internships to finally find what I can see myself doing for the early years of my career :)
Was it worth it?
You bet. Never settle.
I'm a firm believer in:
As Steve Job once said: "Love what you do, and you will never have to work a day in your life."
Call me an idealist. But whatever I do, I want to work hard and earn a good keep whilst having fun and being happy. Otherwise, all the money in the world doesn't mean anything :)
Another confession.
My next two favorite sections of the WSJ?
.
.
.
Travel, and Food.
Judge as you will. I'll be damned ;)
